Elson Heamon Newton

Elson Heamon Newton, husband of Hazel Tuck Newton, passed away on Saturday, January 19, 2019 at the age of 94. He was born in Mecklenburg County on July 3, 1924 to the late Robert Bailey and Elizabeth Washington Wilkins Newton. He and his wife, Hazel, were married on February 7, 1947.Elson was retired from construction in 1989 after 46 years as a general contractor. He was a veteran of the US Army in World War II, served in the Battle of the Bulge. In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughter, Elizabeth Newton of Blacksburg; son, Elson H. Newton, Jr., of Ringgold, five grandchildren and one great grandson. Graveside funeral for Elson will be held on Monday, 2:00 PM, January 21, 2019 at Nelson Baptist Church Cemetery. The service will be officiated by Dwayne Caldwell. . The family will receive friends anytime at the residence, 1557 Countryside Drive, Ringgold, VA.
