Virgilina, VA Mr. Ernest Herbert Newton, Sr., 80, died on Monday, March 14, 2016.He was born on September 29, 1935 in Nelson, VA to the late John Robert Newton and Annie Lou Puryear Newton.Ernest was a member of Nelson Baptist Church.He was retired from Loxcreen after more than 30 years of employment.Mr. Newton was preceded in death by his wife, Irma Morris Newton and grandchildren, Phillip Wayne Newton and Melissa Ann Elliott.He is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law, Kathryn and Michael Whitt of Scottsburg, Virginia and Roger Allen and Mary Louise Newton, all of Virgilina, VA and his son and daughter-in-law, Ernest Jr. and Melissa Newton of Scottsburg, VA.Also surviving are grandchildren, Brandy Elliott, Dana Culley, Samuel Harvey and Katie Allen and great-grandchildren, Austin, Avaree, Miah, Skylar, Kyleigh, Karissa and Alayna.Visitation for friends and family will be held on Tuesday, March 15, 2016 from 7 – 9 p.m. at Watkins Cooper Lyon Funeral Home, 703 Virginia Ave., Clarksville, VA and at all other times in the home of Virginia Allen.Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, March 16, 2016 at Nelson Baptist Church in Nelson, VA with the Reverends Don Wilson and Frankie Reeves officiating.Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
