Esma Higgins

Esma W. "Granny" Higgins, age 94, passed away on November 7, 2012. She was predeceased in death by her father and mother, Emmett and Cora Wilkerson of Clarksville, VA and husbands, Jordan T. Williamson of Clarksville and John Robert Higgins of Sandston and was the last surviving of her two sisters and seven brothers. She is survived by sons, Gene J. Williamson Brenda, Colin R. Williamson Janet, Alan E. Williamson Becky, and daughter, Connie W. Reese Kenny; grandchildren, Cynthia Allender Ford, Jennifer Wingfield Keith, Tony Williamson Trish, Greg Williamson, Michelle Samuels Wayne, and Angie Kelly Mike, as well as nine great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She was a native of Mecklenburg County, VA later moving to Sandston, VA and most recently resided at Heritage Green Assisted Living and Hanover Healthcare & Rehab facilities in Mechanicsville, VA. Arrangements are being handled by Nelsen Funeral Home Sandston, 4650 S. Laburnum Avenue, Richmond, VA 23231. Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 10, 2012 from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Nelsen Funeral Home Chapel followed by a funeral service at 12:30 p.m. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Union Chapel Baptist Cemetery Fund, 4433 Shiney Rock Road, Clarksville, VA 23927. The family is deeply grateful to the many caregivers who have assisted with her care during these last years.
