Estelle Chandler Daniel

Estelle Chandler Daniel died July 29, 2023 at the age of 91. She was the widow of Roy G. Daniel. Estelle, the daughter of Ollie Barry Chandler and Minnie Lee Chandler, was born in Stovall, NC on October 6, 1931. She graduated from Stovall High School and attended cosmetology school after graduation. Estelle married Roy G. Daniel on December 23, 1951. They established a home there where they raised their only daughter. She began a long career with Burlington Industries in Clarksville, VA and retired at age 70. Clarksville, VA was her home, where she spent her life enjoying family and friends. Estelle took pride in maintaining her yard and flowers. She was always on the go. In her early years she traveled often to the Midwest to join her husband who was a wool buyer for Burlington. In Estelle’s later years, she traveled numerous times with her special friend John C. Guthrie (JC) to Texas and Oklahoma to visit family.

Estelle was preceded in death not only by her husband Roy G. Daniel, but also by her sister Margaret C. Pittard, brother-in-law A.T. Pittard Jr., her son-in-law Ralph G. Hopkins,  and Edward E. Jones Jr. She is survived by her daughter Olivia D. Hopkins (Libby), granddaughter Olivia H. Croyle, great granddaughters Katelyn Croyle and Kara Croyle, nephew Andrew T. Pittard III (Andy) and his wife Karen, niece Lucy P. Jones, great nieces Sara P. Dejarnette (Mitch) and Kristen Pittard, and great nephew Chandler Jones. Estelle is also survived by her special friend and soulmate for 30 years John C. Guthrie (JC); and her life-long best friends, Nancy Ayers and Susan Dalton.

A graveside service will be held at Oakhurst Cemetery in Clarksville, VA on Wednesday, August 2, 2023 at 11:00 am. Family and friends may visit at the graveside immediately following the service and afterwards at her home in Clarksville.
