Eva Shields Smith

South Boston, VA - Eva Shields Smith, wife of the late Roy Adams Smith, Sr., passed away on Thursday, April 23, 2020, at the age of 92. She was born in Halifax County on March 13, 1928, to the late Maude Belle Martin and James Marshall Shields. Eva worked as a sales person at Belk for more than 25 years. She loved animals, flowers and enjoyed reading. She was a member at Winns Creek Baptist Church. Eva Shields Smith is survived by a daughter, Jane Puryear (Randy); son, Roy Smith, Jr. (Virginia); grandchildren, Marshall Puryear (Lori), Bryant Puryear (Violet), Laura Slagle (Bruce), Beth Smith and Roy Adams Smith III; eight great grandchildren and many other family members. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Zelna Wilkerson and brothers, Edgar Shields and Jesse Shields. A graveside service will be held at Oak Ridge Cemetery.
