Evelyn Harris Ray

Evelyn Harris Ray of South Boston, VA, passed away on Wednesday, April 19, 2023, at the age of 74.  Born in Person County, NC, on November 19, 1948, she was the daughter of the late Henry "Jack" Franklin Harris and the late Mable Alkins Harris Snow. Evelyn was a faithful Christian woman, who was passionate about caring for her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She enjoyed shopping. Evelyn was a member of Roxboro Church of God.

Cherishing her memory are her husband of 50 years, Douglas Ray; daughters, Caroline Reeves (Ken) and Renee Reagan (Scott); son, Douglas Ray, Jr. (Jen); 10 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister, Anne Russell.

In addition to her parents, Evelyn was preceded in death by her sister, Ruby Jane Link.

Funeral services will be held at 3:30 PM on Sunday, April 23, 2023, in the chapel of Brooks Lyon Funeral Home with burial to follow at Burchwood Cemetery located in Roxboro, NC. The Reverend Barbara Whitlow will officiate the service. The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 6:00 - 8:00 PM at the funeral home and all other times at 3136 Mt. Carmel Rd., Alton, VA.
