Evelyn Overstreet Wilkins

Mrs. Evelyn Overstreet Wilkins of 279 South Main Street., Halifax, VA died Tuesday, May 4, 2010 at her home at the age of 87. She was born in Halifax County on August 12, 1922, the daughter of the late George Overstreet and the late Nellie Seay Overstreet and was married to the late A. V. Wilkins. Mrs. Wilkins was a retired manager for Richmond National Bank and a member of Clover Baptist Church. Mrs. Wilkins is survived by her son, Rodney Wilkins and wife, Nancy of Prescott, AZ; 2 daughters, Katherine Wilkins of Halifax and Laura Edwards and husband, John of South Boston; 2 grandsons, Jonathan Barton and wife, Miki of Harrogate, England, John Cranford and wife, Joanie of Virgilina; a granddaughter, Ann Cranford Edwards of South Boston; 2 great grandchildren Ashton Cranford and Lars Barton; 2 brothers, Oscar Overstreet and wife, Geraldine of Clover and Marvis Overstreet and wife, Faye of Conway, SC; and 1 sister, Bernice Carden of South Boston. Mrs. Wilkins was also preceded in death by her sister Dorothy Hatcher. Graveside services will be held Thursday, May 6, 2010 at 2:00 PM at Clover cemetery with Dr. Russell Lee and Rev. Michael Parnell officiating. The family will receive friends at Brooks Funeral Home on Wednesday night from 7:00 PM to 8:00 and at other times at the home 279 South Main Street., Halifax In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Halifax Regional Hospice, 2204 Wilborn Ave., South Boston, VA 24592
