Faye Carol Overbey Mcgaughey

Faye Carol Overbey McGaughey of South Boston, VA, passed away on Saturday, November 26, 2022, at the age of 78. Born in Nelson on February 15, 1944, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Sallie Puryear Overbey. She was married to Hal Arthur McGaughey, who survives. Faye worked for many years, but ended her career as a bookkeeper for a legal firm. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend who loved to cook and provide for those she loved. Faye was a true believer in Christ and a devoted member of Dan River Baptist Church.

Cherishing precious memories are her husband, Hal; sons, Lewis Newton, Glenn Newton (Linda), David Newton (Wendy); daughter, Madonna Hall (Ed); grandchildren, Misty, Adam, Derek, Matthew, Ashley, Jared, Michael, Katlyn, Marc, Walter and Nick; 19 great grandchildren and 6 great great grandchildren. She is also survived by siblings, Holly Mae Crenshaw, Margie Nelson and Robert Overbey, numerous nieces and nephews, a special Honduran family, as well as many other family members. In addition to her parents, Faye was preceded in death by 5 brothers and 1 sister.

The family will receive friends at Dan River Baptist Church on Wednesday evening, November 30, from 6 - 8 P.M. Funeral services will be at 2 P.M. on Thursday at the church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The Reverend Doug Gibson will officiate. The family will receive friends at other times at her home, 1105 Waddell Lane, South Boston.
