Fletcher "June" Doggett

Fletcher Redd Doggett, Jr., affectionately known as "June", 98, passed away Sunday, October 6, 2013 at MeadowView Terrace. He was born May 7, 1915 in Mecklenburg County to the late Fletcher Redd, Sr. and Eunice Bullock Doggett. June was a graduate of Clarksville High School with the Class of 1932. He loved his farm and his family and enjoyed living a more simple life. The oldest living member of Ephesus United Methodist Church, he served as Sunday School Superintendent for many, many years and was a pillar of Ephesus United Methodist Church. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM, Saturday, October 12 at Ephesus with the Reverend Randy Baisey and Reverend Pat Neilsen officiating. Interment will follow at Oakhurst Cemetery. In addition to his parents, Mr. Doggett was preceded in death by his sister, Ada Doggett Chewning and brothers, Albert David Doggett and Melvin Grey Doggett. He is survived by his friend, Mary Elizabeth McDade, and nieces, Carolyn Chewning Blackburn and Patricia Chewning Huff. The family will receive friends from Noon Saturday until 1:45 PM at Ephesus. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the church's Building Fund, c/o Ann Brankley.
