Florence Virginia Williams Davis

SOUTH BOSTON Mrs. Florence Williams Davis went to be with her Heavenly Father on February 1, 2020 while she was a resident at The Woodview in South Boston. She was born in Halifax County, VA September 8, 1924, but lived many of her years between Scottsburg and Gretna, Va. Florence was born to her cherished parents, Flave Alexander Williams, Sr and Rena Brown Lacks Williams Conner and her stepfather Lewis Nelson Conner and was married to the late Noel Winston Davis, Sr. Florence was a member of Clover Church of God of Prophecy. She was a devoted caregiver for her mother, Rena Conner, who called her “Flo Jinny” and a huge part of the live’s of her grandchildren, brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews. Florence loved being outside, starting very young working in tobacco and continuing all her life in her own garden and taking care of her chickens. Her first job was with Carter Fabrics in South Boston, Scottsburg Elementary School, Craddock Terry Shoe Co., Clover Yarns and retired from Lane Company in Altavista, VA. Left behind to cherish her memories are daughters, Edith Rebecca Davis Harman (Ray) of Nathalie, Ruth Virginia Davis Snead (Paul) of Scottsburg, her baby girl Winona Patricia Davis Bosko (Danny) of Chatham; her baby boy, Carl Michael Davis, Sr (Catina) of Gretna; 13 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. She is further survived by her sisters, Myrtle Conner Day of South Boston, Fannie Conner Burton Aman of Florida, Mary Conner Daniel Andersen (Robert) of Chester; brothers, Clinton Hagood Conner (Connie) of Hampton and Bob Nelson Conner (Mary) of Midlothian. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband; her son, Noel Winston Davis, Jr., brother, Flave Alexander Williams, Jr; sister, Dorothy Brown Williams Sneed; her baby brother, Lewis Nelson Conner, Jr and brother, Charlie Bailey Conner. Funeral Services will be at 12 Noon on Tuesday, February 4, 2020 at Brooks Lyon Betty B. Jones Chapel. Interment will follow in the Colbert Moran Memorial Gardens in Gretna, VA. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, February 4 one hour prior to the service, 11 AM to 12 Noon at Brooks Lyon Funeral Home. The family requests those wishing to give memorials please consider a local charity of your choice.
