Forest Eugene Moore

Forest Eugene Moore, husband of the late Corrie Puryear Moore, passed away on Thursday, November 2, 2023, at the age of 86. Born in Halifax County, VA, on March 9, 1937, he was the son of the late Walter and Mary Webster Moore. Forest worked at Georgia Pacific until it's closing, and as a dump truck driver for many years. He was a lifelong baseball and racing fan. He was a loving father, grandfather, great grandfather and great-great grandfather and was a devoted member and life-long deacon at Nelson Baptist Church.

Forest Moore is survived by his children, Bonita Taylor of Scottsburg, Barry Eugene Moore (Jennifer) of Nathalie, Timothy “Brett” Moore of Durham and Byron Scott Moore of Roxboro; grandchildren, Derek Taylor (Sara) of South Boston, Devin Taylor (Paula) of Crystal Hill, Courtney Davis (Brian) of Chase City, Colton Moore of Nathalie, Crystal Brown (Justin) of Hurt, Brittney Moore of Appomattox, Byron Moore, Jr. of Roxboro, Amber Barnett (L.J.) of Roxboro, Cory Moore of Virgilina, B.J. Moore (Scarlett) of Virginia Beach and Bradley Moore (Casey) of Virginia Beach as well as 14 great grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren and 3 step great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a brother, Gordon Moore (Bessie) of South Boston, as well as a host of nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife and parents, Forest was preceded in death by a daughter, Cynthia Lee Moore and siblings, Junior Moore, Irving Moore, Christine Lloyd, Elsie Hackney, Ann Marie, Gertrude, Helen and Ada Belle; and one son-in-law, Gene Taylor.

Funeral services will be held at 2 pm on Saturday, November 4, 2023, at Nelson Baptist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service.
