Frances Richardson Cole

Mrs. Frances Richardson Cole of Cluster Springs passed away on Sunday, January 15, 2023 at the age of 98 and was reunited with her loving husband of 79 years, Robert Cornelius Cole, who passed 18 days prior to Frances. She was born in Halifax County on November 6, 1924 to Elmer Terrell Richardson and Nannie Hite Richardson.

Frances worked in the spinning department at Burlington Industries for 43 years until her retirement. She never missed a day other than the birth of her children. She enjoyed gardening, canning, freezing vegetables and made the best stew and potato salad. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother that loved her family dearly and always enjoyed cooking for them.

Surviving Frances is her daughter, Nancy Lee Cole (Hooks); sons, Robert Elmer Cole (Lanier) and Cecil Edward Cole, all of South Boston; grandson, Troy Cole (Sherri) and great granddaughter, Emily Grace Cole of Kernersville, NC; sisters-in-law, Nannie Sue Chappell and Laura Mae Ferrell; brother-in-law, "Junior" Cole (Linda); and special niece and next door neighbor, Wanda & Allen Murray. Thank you for your numerous acts of loving kindness for both Frances & Robert for many years.
In addition to her parents and her husband, Robert, Frances was preceded in death by a step father, Norman Banes Hudson; brother, Cecil Tarlton Richardson; half brothers, Bobby and Ray Hudson; brothers & sisters-in-law, James & Erselle Cole, Lorene Wade, Hazel Watts, and Barbara Ann Cole; and a daughter-in-law, Evelyn Cole.
A Graveside Service will be held at Black Walnut Baptist Church Cemetery on Wednesday, January 18, 2023 at 2:00 PM with Reverends Norman Talley and Robert Hardy officiating.
