Frances Yue-Cheng Jiang

Frances Yue Cheng Jiang passed away peacefully at home on February 12, 2022. Born in Shanghai, China on June 3rd, 1930 to William Jean (Wei Liang Jiang) and Amy Song (Ai Min Song), she was the eighth child, and had 11 siblings. At the young age of 20, Frances graduated from the prestigious Soochow University Law School. She was recognized as the youngest in the Inaugural Judicial Class. Growing up, Frances loved to sing and play her guitar. She enjoyed classical music, reading, Chinese chess, and walking in parks. Before Frances married, she helped run her father’s Dairy Equipment Company. Once she became a mother, and despite the ongoing adversity during the Cultural Revolution in China, Frances made it her sole purpose to raise well-rounded, successful children. She encouraged her children to always try their best and to achieve their dreams. Against all odds, Frances succeeded while living in Communist China. To explain the influence Frances had on her children is an impossible task. Left to cherish her, and to honor her memory as their mother, are Dr. Angela Wei Zhu of Houston, TX and Dr. Wylie Hung Zhu of Virginia Beach, VA. Frances was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Qian Wei Zhu, four brothers - Luis, Frank, Andrew and Jiu Fu and her sisters, Jeanette and Rui Zhen. In addition to her children, Frances leaves behind her three younger sisters- Hilda in California, Alice in New Jersey and Amy in Shanghai, China, as well as nieces and nephews. She will always be fondly remembered as Nai Nai, to her five grandchildren- Noah Yi Min, Audrey Wei, Phoebe Fei, Wylie Qiang Wei and Titus Kai Chen Zhu, as well as daughter-in law Rebecca Zhu. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, February 20, 2022, in the chapel of Watkins Cooper Lyon Funeral Home, 703 Virginia Avenue, Clarksville, VA. The family will receive friends before the service beginning at 1:00 PM. A private burial will follow the service. Online condolences may be expressed to the family at wclfh.com.
