Frances Anderson Taylor

Frances Anderson Taylor of Halifax, VA, passed away early on Saturday, January 7, 2023, at the age of 87. Born in Halifax County on December 22, 1935, she was the daughter of the late John “Dick” Anderson and the late Ilva Corene Fallen Anderson Lee and was married to the late Stephen Edward Taylor. Frances was a nurse for more than 40 years and was awarded Humanitarian of the Year for her service to the community. She also was a missionary in Ukraine. In her spare time, Frances was an avid reader who enjoyed crossword puzzles and spending time with her family. She was a member at Second Baptist Church.

Cherishing her memory are children, Robin Lowery (Charles) and Nathan Taylor; grandchildren, Derek Taylor (Sara), Kristi Harmon, Devin Taylor, Kim Wyatt (Bobby), Stephen Harmon (Staycee) and Robby Lowery; multiple great and great great grandchildren; siblings, Dana Owen (Ronnie), Connie Kirks, Donald “Buddy” Fallen; daughter-in-law, Bonita Taylor and her special friend, Anita Powell. In addition to her husband and parents, Frances was preceded in death by sons, Stephen “Gene” Taylor, and Joe Taylor and siblings, Myrtle Wilmoth and Roy Thomas Anderson.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Tuesday, January 10 at Second Baptist Church with burial to follow in Clover Cemetery. The Reverend John Lewandowski will officiate the service. The family will receive friends on Monday evening from 6-7:30 P.M. at the funeral home and other times at the home of her daughter Robin, 3147 Philpott Rd., South Boston.
