Frances Maxey Turnbull

Mrs. Frances Maxey Turnbull, 87, widow of Irby Turnbull, Jr. died Wednesday, July 28, 2004 in Clarksville. Born and reared in Clarksville, she was the daughter of the late George Claiborne and Vivian Jones Maxey. Graduating from Clarksville High School with the class of 1934, Frances continued her education at Virginia State Teachers College, now Longwood University, graduating in 1938. A retired teacher, her career spanned many counties with most of her time in Halifax and Mecklenburg counties. She was a member of Clarksville Baptist Church where the memorial service will be 11 AM Saturday with Reverend Wade Tucker officiating. Burial will be private. Surviving Mrs. Turnbull are daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Keith Martin of Hyde Park, Vermont; sons and daughters-in-law, Irby, III and Kay Turnbull of Boydton and George and Susan Turnbull of Elmo. Four granddaughters and three grandsons also survive her. The family will receive friends 7:30-9:00PM Friday at Watkins Cooper Lyon Funerla Home.
