Frank "Buddy" Leo Thames

NELSON, VA – Mr. Frank Leo “Buddy” Thames, Jr. , husband of Kathy Campbell Thames, passed away on Friday, September 13, 2019 at the age of 66. He was born in Halifax Co., VA on May 27, 1953 the son of Peggy Hart Thames and the late Frank Leo Thames, Sr. Buddy was a 1972 graduate of Bluestone High School and a member of Nelson Baptist Church. He worked for Bahnson Service Company where he traveled extensively, worked for many years with Bandag before retiring in 2017, and was a cattleman. Mr. Thames is survived by his wife, Kathy C. Thames of Nelson; daughter, Callie T. Carnes and husband, Byrt of Buffalo Junction; sons, Frank Leo “Trey” Thames, III of Nelson and Nicholas Joseph Thames of Farmville; mother, Peggy H. Thames of Nelson; sister, Elizabeth Hart Thames of Oxford, NC; grandson, Nathaniel Hunter Carnes; and nieces, Keely and Sarah. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, September 18, 2019 at 2:00 PM at Nelson Baptist Church with the Reverend Don Wilson officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
