Frank Merritt "Smiley" Murray

Mr. Frank Merritt "Smiley" Murray, Jr. of 1246 Shady Grove Church Rd., Virgilina, VA died Friday, December 27, 2013 at the age of 63. He was born in Halifax Co., VA on May 19, 1950 to the late Frank M. Murray, Sr. and the late Hilda Oakes Murray and was married to the late Tania Steffanie Storer Murray. Mr. Murray was a retired phone company line tech and was a member of Shady Grove United Methodist Church. Survivors include a son, Travis Murray and wife, Beth of South Boston, VA; a sister, Rebecca M. Howitt and husband, Robert of South Boston, VA; a brother, Arthur Murray and wife, Karen of Indian Trail, NC; and two grandchildren, Madison and Macy Murray. Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 30, 2013 at 2:00 PM at Brooks Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Charles Townsend and Rev. Don Bryant officiating. Burial will follow in Shady Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Brooks Funeral Home on Sunday, December 29, 2013 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM and at other times at the home of Shirley Stevens, 4000 Philpott Rd., South Boston, VA. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the Shady Grove UMC Cemetery Fund, 4129 E. Hyco Rd., South Boston, VA 24592.
