Mr. Frank Thomas Stevens of 4000 Philpott Rd., South Boston, VA died Thursday, March 21, 2013 at the age of 82. He was born in Halifax Co., VA on September 5, 1930 to the late Daniel Jacob Stevens and the late Mamie Donia Stevens and was married to Shirley Clark Stevens. Mr. Stevens was an electrician and was veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps. He was of the Baptist faith and was a very active member of American Legion Post 8. Survivors include his wife, Shirley Clark Stevens of South Boston, VA; two sons, David Allen Stevens of South Boston, VA and Gary Thomas Stevens and wife, Janet of South Boston, VA; a daughter, Karen Bliss and husband, Stan of South Boston, VA; three grandsons, Stephen Bliss and wife, Lisa, Chris Stevens and wife, Hilary, and Dustin Stevens; five granddaughters, Beth Anne Murray and husband, Travis, Ashley Riddle and husband, Chip, Kristen Correll and husband, Brooks, Jessica "Punky" Snead and husband, Jamie, and Courtney Stevens; and ten great grandchildren. he was preceded in death by his parents, a grandson, Joseph Stevens, six brothers, John R. Stevens, Charlie D. Stevens, Walter L. Stevens, Millard F. Stevens, Daniel Jacob Stevens, Jr., and James "Doc" Stevens, and three sisters, Sallie S. Smith, Nellie S. Glass, and Elizabeth S. Bane. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, March 24, 2013 at 2:00 PM at Brooks Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Raymond Wooten and Rev. Mike Allen officiating. Burial will follow in Glenwood Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Brooks Funeral Home on Saturday, March 23, 2013 from 7 PM until 8:30 PM and at other times at the home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Glenwood Methodist Church Cemetery Fund or Black Walnut Baptist Church Building Fund.
