Garlington Columbus Wilburn

Mr. Garlington Columbus ?Garry? Wilburn, 80, husband of Jean Stewart Wilburn, died April 12, 2005 in Halifax Regional Hospital. Born in Ridgeland, SC, Garry was the son of the late Samuel Webster and Iris Perry Wilburn. An Electrical Engineering graduate with the class of 1948 from Clemson University, Garry was employed by Westinghouse for 34 years. Many of those years were in management as Chief Engineer. He retired in 1982. A veteran of WWII, he served with the U.S. Army Air Corps. He was chairman of the building committee for the South Boston YMCA; and served as Treasurer for Merifield Acres Association for 3 years. A Memorial service will be 11 AM Friday at Clarksville Presbyterian Church. In addition to his wife, Mr. Wilburn is survived by son, David Samuel Wilburn of Charlotte, NC; daughters, Carol Stewart and Susan Perry Wilburn, both of Carrboro, NC; brother, Samuel Webster Wilburn of Fearrington, NC; sisters, Mary Hyrne of Raleigh, NC and Nora Joy of Bethune, SC.
