Gayle Bowen Riggan

Gayle Patricia Bowen Riggan, of Buffalo Junction, VA. went to her heavenly home on Saturday, December 9, 2023, at the age of 84. Born in Buffalo Junction, VA on November 11, 1939, she was the daughter of the late Ellis and Alma Tuck Bowen and was married to William Herbert Riggan, who survives.  Gayle's family includes her loving husband, William; devoted daughters, Wendy Lucas (Mike) and Sharon Spainhour (Randy); adored grandchildren, Tyler, Christopher, Torin, William and Josh; precious great grandchildren, Mallory, Kinslee, Kinley, William, Jr., Hazel, Noah, Bowen, Hope, Jace, Caleb, Clara; beloved siblings, Brenda Williamson (Gene), Cheryl Newton (Louis), Sanford Bowen (Shirley) and Scott Bowen (Joanne); sister-in-law, Lena Bowen as well as many cherished nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents. she was preceded in death by siblings, Mack Bowen and Margie Coghill.

Gayle was a member of Buffalo Baptist Tabernacle and cherished her church family. God gave her many talents, but singing in the church worship service was one that she loved. She was a gifted seamstress, who took great pride in making clothes for her family and was sought after by many throughout the community to do alterations for them and their families. Our Lord allowed Gayle's loving touch to influence so many lives through childcare in her home, teaching Sunday School and Vacation Bible School and through her time serving at Centerville Christian School.  Her life reflected her strong faith in her Savior, Jesus, and her legacy will be how she trusted in the hand of God no matter what health problems that she endured.

Her family was her greatest joy. Whether you called her Wife, Momma, Grannie, Sister, Aunt or Friend, we all have been touched by her life that was full of compassion and love for all of us.

Funeral services will be held at 2 pm on Saturday, December 16, 2023, at Buffalo Baptist Tabernacle with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The Reverend Mike Bowen will officiate the service. The family will receive friends at the church starting at 12:30 pm on Saturday.
