Geneva "Genny" Epps

SOUTH BOSTON Ms. Geneva “Genny” Epps passed away peacefully on Friday, November 6, 2020 at the age of 93. She was born in Halifax County on November 10, 1926 to the late Charlie H. Epps and the late Lillian Hall Epps. Genny retired after many years, 1947-2006, from Halifax Pharmacy. She was a member of Winns Creek Baptist Church. Left to cherish her memories is a son, Donald “Bruce” Barksdale and wife Helen; granddaughter, Tonya McDowell and husband Chris; great grandson, Andrew McDowell; great granddaughter, Sydney McDowell; sister, Margaret Epps Hemric; and many nieces and nephews, including special niece Cathy Rice and husband Allen. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by brothers, Cecil H. Epps and Lawrence R. “Buck” Epps; and sisters, Evelyn Epps Crews and Norell Ridgeway. A private graveside service for family will be held on Monday, November 9, 2020 at Dan River Baptist Church Cemetery. The service will also be live-streamed on Brooks Lyon Funeral Home web site.
