George David Miller

SOUTH BOSTON Mr. George David Miller of South Boston passed away on Monday, August 13, 2018, at the age of 79.Born in Swoope, Virginia on August 19, 1938, he was the son of the late Warren Dudley Miller and the late Mary McGuire Miller. David was a member of Bethlehem United Methodist Church in Swoope, VA. He was the manager and vice president of Parks Finance for 53 1/2 years, a former member of the Lion’s Club, former President of Retail Merchants Association and the coordinator for the South Boston Christmas Parade for over 25 years. He is survived by daughters, Gail Howell and husband, Dennis and Pamela Gravitt and fiance, James; step children, Otis B. “Tex” Rose, III and wife, Sharon, David Anthony Rose, Barbara Rose Lawhorne, and Kimberly Rose Murray and husband, Steve; 14 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; a brother, Warren Miller; his beloved dog, Oreo and was married to Betty Anne Miller 30 years. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by siblings, Tootie Fyock, Herman Miller, Marion Miller and Frances Wimer; son, Jeffrey David Miller; his first wife, Betty Crum Miller. A Celebration of Life service will be held Wednesday, August 15, 2018 at the Brooks Lyon Betty B. Jones Chapel at 6:00 PM with a visitation to follow after the service.
