George Oscar Overstreet

Mr. George Oscar Overstreet, Jr. of Clover, VA. passed away at his home on Saturday, March 18, 2017 at the age of 90.He was born in Halifax County on July 7, 1926 to the late George Oscar Overstreet, Sr. and the late Nellie Seay Overstreet and was married to Geraldine Fallen Overstreet. Mr. Overstreet was a member of Rodgers Chapel Baptist Church where he was a deacon.He was a member of Mt. Laurel Ruritan Club and enjoyed woodworking and being on his farm. Oscar is survived by his wife, Geraldine; son, George O. Overstreet, III and wife Lyndell of Clover, VA; daughter, Susan O. Simms and husband, Marvin of Mechanicsville, VA; brother, Marvis Overstreet and wife, Faye of Charlottesville, VA; grandchildren, Yevonne S. Chandler and husband Cary, Amber K. Simms, Tom Atkins; and great grandchild, Bennett R. Chandler. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters, Dorothy O. Hatcher, Bernice O. Carden, and Evelyn O. Wilkins. Funeral services for Mr. Overstreet will be Tuesday, March 21, 2017 at Rodgers Chapel Baptist Church at 2:00 PM with The Reverend Aubrey Heath officiating.Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
