George Stuart Switzer

HIGH POINT, NC Mr. George Stuart Switzer, husband of Carolyn Cole Switzer of High Point, NC, formerly of South Boston, passed away Friday, December 28, 2018 at the age of 80.He was born in Buffalo, New York on October 8, 1938, to the late George Samuel Switzer and the late Priscilla Guguentz Switzer. Stuart was a graduate of John Marshall High School, Class of 1957, in Richmond, VA and later received his degree at VCU. He was active in the furniture industry, including Daystrom Furniture in South Boston. He served on various boards, both civic and business. In addition to his wife, Carolyn of High Point, NC, he is survived by daughters, Kathy S. Bane and husband, Woody of Halifax, VA and Sarah S. O’Toole and husband, Mike of Forest, VA; sons, Greg T. Meeks and wife, Anne Garner of Halifax, VA and David T. Meeks and Mandy of Hickory, NC; grandchildren, Kent Bane and wife, Maggie, Kate Bane, Meg Bane, Brian O’Toole, Madelin O’Toole, Sarah Alice Meeks, Brandon Meeks and Harper Meeks; sister, Lynda S. Gormus and husband, Perkins of Richmond, VA. Funeral Services for Stuart Switzer will be held on Monday, December 31, 2018 at 2:00 PM at Brooks Lyon Betty B. Jones Chapel with Reverend Raymond Wooten officiating.Interment will follow at Black Walnut Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday one hour prior to the service, 1:00-2:00, at Brooks Lyon Funeral Home.
