Gertrude “Trudy” Mangum Brankley, 90, passed away on Saturday, January 20, 2018. She was born on August 22, 1927 in Lunenburg County to the late William Wesley and Lula Parthenia McKinney Mangum. Trudy was the widow of Floyd Milton Brankley to whom she was married for 57 years. Trudy was raised in Lunenburg County and graduated from Victoria High School. An avid lover of animals and poetry, she also loved working in her beautiful garden throughout the season and enjoyed her lovely roses. During her working career, she held jobs at the Ford Motor Co., Southside Furniture Co, Burlington Industries and Mecklenburg Electric Co, and retired as bookkeeper from Love and Associates. An active member of Ephesus United Methodist Church, Trudy held the position of Treasurer. Mrs. Brankley is survived by daughter, Brenda Gayle Brankley of Charlottesville; son Floyd G. (Angela) Brankley of South Boston; sister, Shirley Wilson of Chase City; grandchildren, Ryan G. (Jessica) Brankley, Laura B. (Travis) Medina, Gabe Brankley, and great-grandchildren, Carter Brankley, Caleb Brankley, and Mia Medina. She was predeceased by her grandson Colby Brankley and her husband, Floyd. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, January 23, 2018 at Ephesus United Methodist Church, 2280 Trottinridge Road, Clarksville , VA 23927 with the Reverend Randy Baisey officiating. Visitation will be at the church preceding the service at 1:00 PM. Interment will follow the service in the church cemetery.
