Gertrude Fulp Reese

Mrs. Gertrude Fulp Reese, age 94 of Lawrenceville, passed away on Wednesday, May 3, 2017. Gertrude was active in churches wherever she lived; in recent years, Briarcliff Baptist Church and First Baptist Church of Grayson. After raising her family, Gertrude began a career with the Internal Revenue Service. Throughout her life, she was known for her beauty, friendliness and honesty. She was passionate about her family, gardening, craft projects and playing cards and games. She enjoyed spectator sports and loved to cook. Gertrude was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 64 years, Byron Lenerial Reese, and her son, William Byron Reese. She is survived by her Daughters & Sons-in-law: Karen & John Wilkins of Forest, VA; Dixie & Harry Collins of Warrenton, VA; Judith & Hans Helmer of Atlanta, GA; Rebecca Dodd & Kevin Miller of Athens, GA; Grandchildren: Melissa Nester, Matthew & Dana Wilkins, Rachel Couturier, Jeanette Wagner, Michael & Carter Dodd; 11 Great Grandchildren and 1 Great Great Granddaughter; her Sister: Louise Dodd of Loudon, TN; and her Brother: Ralph Fulp of Newport, WA. A graveside service will be held at Oakland Cemetery in Scottsburg, VA on Monday, May 8th at 4:00PM. The family will receive friends at Brooks Lyon Funeral Home from 2:00 - 3:00PM on Monday, May 8th. In lieu of flowers donations in her honor can be made to a charity of your choice.
