Gilbert Grant Dyer

SOUTH BOSTON - The Reverend Gilbert Grant Dyer,III of South Bostondied peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, September 13, 2016 at the age of 67.Born in Halifax County on February 10, 1949, he was the son of the late Gilbert Grant Dyer, Jr and the late Lucy Belle New Dyer and was married to Deborah Spangler Dyer for 50 years. Reverend Dyer was a member of New Covenant Worship Center where he served as the Pastor for over 35 years. In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughters, Carolyn Boyd(Mark) of Roanoke, VA, Pamela Robinette (Brian) of Mebane, NC, Christy Moser ( Kenneth) of Alton, VA; sons, Steven G. Dyer (Charity) of South Boston,Scott Dyer(Tasha) of South Boston; sisters, Rochelle Rudder of South Boston, JoAnne Hudson of New Bern, NC; brother, Billy Dyer of South Boston; grandchildren, Joshua Boyd (Rachel), Mindy Wright (Brian), Victoria Dyer, Savannah Dyer, Sarah Dyer, Kayla Robinette, Kenna Moser, Kennedy Dyer, Karlye Dyer, and Kassidy Dyer. He was predeceased by his parents and a brother, Ralph Dyer. Funeral Services for Reverend Dyer will be held on Thursday, September 15, 2016 at 11:00 AM at Ingram Memorial Pentacostal Holiness Church. Burial will follow in Halifax Memorial Gardens.The family will receive friends on Wednesday, September 14, 2016 at New Covenant Worship Center, 904 Wilborn Ave. from 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM. The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to Sentara Halifax Hospice for their kindness to Reverend Dyer and his family during his illness.
