Gladys Upton Brown

Mrs. Gladys Upton Brown of 1120 Lake Conner Rd., Nathalie died Sunday, May 2, 2010 at the age of 82. Mrs. Brown was born in Halifax County on July 9, 1927 to the late Joseph and Ida Gordon Upton and was married to the late Walter C. "Simon" Brown. She was a hairdresser and a member of Alton Baptist Church. Survivors include a step son, Wayne Brown and wife, Rachel of Forest; two sisters, Inez U. Fallen and husband, Ralph of Nathalie and Tootsie U. Smart and husband, Clellie of Washington, NC; two step grandchildren, Walt Brown and Matt Brown; and two step great grandchildren, Peyton Brown and Kendall Brown. In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by two brothers, Calvin Upton and Stover Upton. Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, May 4, 2010 at 2:00 PM at Harmony United Methodist Church cemetery with Rev. Dennis Ball officiating. The family will receive friends at Harmony United Methodist Church on Tuesday from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM.
