Oxford, NC - Gladys Phillips Elliott, widow of John Kelly Elliott, passed away on Tuesday, August 15, 2017 at the age of 90.She was born in Halifax County on August 24, 1926 to the late Claudia Redd and George Phillips.Mrs. Elliott worked for many years at Russell Stover Candy Factory and was a member of North Fork Baptist Church in Virgilina. In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Elliott was preceded in death by a son, William Elliott and siblings, Mary Bowen and Thomas Phillips.She is survived by daughters, Gladys Murray (Herbert) of Roxboro, Patsy Brewer (Jeff) of Oxford and Donna Talley of South Boston; sons, John Randolph Elliott (Jane) of South Boston and Danny Elliott of Scottsburg; sisters, Ann Morris of Virgilina, Linda Howerton of South Boston and Judy Coghill of Virgilina and brothers, George Phillips of Oxford and Lennie Phillips of Roxboro.She is also survived by 16 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild. Funeral services for Mrs. Elliott will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 17, 2017 at North Fork Baptist Church with interment to follow in the church cemetery.The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service.The Reverend Doug Ballew will be officiating.
