Mrs. Gladys Calvin McGregor of 2081 Dan River Church Rd., South Boston, VA died Wednesday, September 14, 2011 at the age of 84. Mrs. McGregor was born in Pittsylvania Co., VA on July 12, 1927 to the late Jim Edward Calvin and the late Jenny Lovelace Calvin and was married to the late James William McGregor. She was a custodian for the Halifax Co. Public School System and was a member of St. Pauls Episcopal Church. Survivors include a daughter, Linda M. Clay and husband, Woodrow of South Boston, VA; a brother, Luther Calvin and wife, Jean of Morganton, NC; two grandsons, Woody Clay and Jimmy Clay and fiance, Melissa Waddle; a great grandson, Colby Dalton Clay; special nieces and nephews, Wallace and Angie McGregor of South Boston, VA and Robert and Rosann Oakes of Halifax, VA; numerous other nieces and nephews; and special friends, Frances Throckmorton and Nannie Throckmorton. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Myrtle Womack, Nannie Adams, and Virginia Dye. Graveside services will be held on Friday, September 16, 2011 at 2:00 PM at St. Pauls Episcopal Church Cemetery with the Rev. Randy Holmes officiating. The family will receive friends at the home.
