Gladys Mills Newton

Mrs. Gladys Mills Newton, 84, wife of Willie Samuel Newton, Jr. died Saturday, December 20, 2008 at Halifax Regional Hospital. The daughter of George Ander and Lizzie Davis Mills, Gladys was a graduate of Clarksville School with the Class of 1942. She was a member of Clarksville Baptist Church. Gladys worked in insurance administration for Taylor Nunn Insurance Company for seventeen years and later worked with State Farm Insurance for almost 20 years. Graveside services will be 11 AM Monday at Gravel Hill Cemetery with the Reverend Greg Randall officiating. In addition to her husband of 61 years, Gladys is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Deborah Newton and Scott Clay of Richmond and sister, Mildred Mills Hicks of Buffalo Junction. The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the fellowship hall at Clarksville Baptist Church. Watkins Cooper Lyon Funeral Home is assisting the Newton family.
