Gladys Gupton Thompson

Gladys Gupton Thompson of Richmond, VA and formerly of Crewe, VA passed away on Wednesday, October 26, 2022 at the age of 94. Gladys was born in Halifax County on July 4, 1928 to the late Eugene Graham Gupton and the late Nora Royster Gupton. She was preceded in death by her husband, Presley "Shorty" Thompson.

Gladys worked along side her husband with Thompson Roofing and Sheet Metal in Crewe, VA. from 1961 - 1980. She was a previous member of Aaron's Creek Baptist Church and Crewe Baptist Church before moving her membership to Derbyshire Baptist Church in Richmond when they retired and moved to Lakewood Retirement Community in Richmond, VA.
She and her husband were long-term supporters of Hope Tree Family Services and Billy Graham Evangelistic Services. While at Aarons Creek Church she was GA leader and her husband was the RA leader. They were always interested in beautifying the Aarons Creek Cemetery and created the existing stone entranceway with shrubbery.

In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Virginia Wilson, Ruby Overbey, Helen Bomar and brothers, Eugene, Doug, Edward Bobby and Prentice Gupton.

Funeral Services will be held at 4:00 PM on Saturday, October 29, 2022 at Aarons Creek Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour before the service, 3-4 PM, at the church. A reception will follow in the fellowship hall after the service.
