Gracie Virginia Simmons

Gracie Virginia Simmons of Alton, VA passed away on Wednesday, October 20, 2021 at the age of 90. She was born on January 3, 1931 in Halifax County to the late Emmitt and Ella Pulliam Simmons.
Although she had no children of her own, she was mother to all of her family. She enjoyed farming, gardening and just being outdoors in general. Virginia loved the “Gunsmoke” series, RFD music, puzzle books, coffee and her snuff.
She is survived by her sister, Barbara Harris; nieces and nephews, William Harris, Jr. (whom held a special place in her heart), Christy Bomar (Dion), Robert Harris (Carolyn), Lynn Harris, Peggy Starr (Alton), Patricia Shelton and Kimberly Harris, as well as numerous great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Martha Hite and Nannie Simmons; nephew, Michael Harris and brother-in-law, Thomas Harris.
A Memorial Serivce will be held at 2 PM on Saturday, August 6, 2022 at Brooks Lyon Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Aarons Creek Cemetery.
