Graham James Ellixson,

June 27, 1936 — November 4, 2021

Graham James Ellixson, Jr., born June 27, 1936, passed away peacefully on November 4, 2021, at the age of 85. He was preceded in death by his wife of 36 years, Brenda S. Ellixson, and his parents Graham, Sr. and Beulah Ellixson. He is survived by his daughter Bonnie L. Lyons (Robert), son Andrew J. Ellixson (Mary), sister Loretta Perry, brother Lawrence Ellixson (Patricia), granddaughters Ariella Stockner (Daniel), Kate Lyons, Ashley Ellixson, Sarah Ellixson, and great grandson Bentley W. Stockner. Graham graduated from Clarksville High School, and went on to earn a Bachelor of Civil Engineering degree from Auburn University. He worked for the U.S. Forestry Service and the Army Corps of Engineers, retiring after 30 years in the Corps. Voraciously curious, Graham was a lifetime learner who explored all life had to offer. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, and downhill skier. He enjoyed the seaside and the mountains, and often referred to Virginia as “God’s Country” since it had both. He explored all types of hobbies including boating, cave exploring, scuba diving, and carpentry. If something needed repair, he would figure out how to do it. After a day’s adventure or work, Graham enjoyed sitting on the deck in the peace of the evening to observe the marsh wildlife. He would share his experiences, knowledge, and hobbies with his family, and often took them on his adventures. He was loved by his family and many friends and will be greatly missed.
