Graham Thomas Sumner

South Boston, VA —

Graham Thomas Sumner, husband of the late Dorothy Carr Sumner, passed away on Wednesday, February 22, 2023, at the age of 92. Born on May 7, 1930, in Hertford County, NC, he was the son of the late Clifton T. “Big Daddy” Sumner and the late Effie Benton Sumner. Graham was a retired body shop owner for many years and enjoyed traveling with his wife in their RV. He was a devoted member of Union Christian Church.

Graham is survived by his son, Walter Sumner (Kevin Legere); grandchildren, Tiffani Lane and Brandon Moody; great grandchild, Tabitha Lane and a sister, Lillian Hinman. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Cynthia "Cindy" Moody; son, Richard "Ricky" Sumner; grandson, Troy Lane and brother, Charles “Chuck” Sumner.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 P.M. on Saturday, February 25 in the chapel at Brooks Lyon Funeral Home with the Reverend Norman Talley officiating. A private burial will be held at Rosewood Memorial Park in Virginia Beach, VA. The family will receive friends before the service at the funeral home beginning at 2:00 P.M.
