Granville Steve Conner

SCOTTSBURG - Mr. Granville Steve Conner of Scottsburg, VA died Friday, March 18 at the age of 57. He was born in Halifax Co., VA on January 18, 1959 to the late William Rufus Conner, Sr. and the late Gracie Saunders Wilson. Mr. Conner was a farmer and handyman and was a member of Winns Creek Baptist Church. Steve enjoyed fishing, going to flea markets, and going to local dances. He loved to take things apart and restore them to good working order. He loved life, spending time with family, friends, and his animals. Mr. Conner is survived by sisters, Gaye Capstick and husband, Elmer of Saint Louis, Missouri and Patricia C. Martin and husband, Eddie of Winns Creek; brothers, Dean Conner and wife, Tracy of Dryburg and Chuck Conner of Cluster Springs; and a number of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, William Rufus "Billy" Conner, Jr. and Roy Preston Conner, and nephew, Clarence Conner, Jr. Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 21, 2016 at 2:00 PM at Winns Creek Baptist Church with the Reverend Chris Sorenson and the Reverend Jim Kopco officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday, March 20 from 7:00 until 8:30 PM at Brooks Lyon Funeral Home and at other times at the home of Dean and Tracy Conner, 6148 Macdonald Rd., Scottsburg, VA and at the home of Patricia C. and Eddie C. Martin, 3043 Winns Creek Rd., Halifax VA. Those wishing to give memorials are asked to please consider the Halifax County Cancer Association, PO Box 1891, Halifax, VA 24558.
