Gwendolyn Gravitt Martin

SOUTH BOSTON - Mrs. Gwendolyn Gravitt Martin of South Boston died Wednesday, June 29, 2016 at the age of 86. She was born in Halifax Co., VA on December 18, 1929 to the late Oscar Russell Gravitt and the late Murlin Virginia Stevens Gravitt and was married to the late Roy McDonald Martin. Mrs. Martin enjoyed talking with her family and friends and canning vegetables from the garden. Mrs. Martin is survived by her sons, Don, Dan, Phil, and Oscar Martin; a sister, Libby Hazelwood; seven grandchildren, and numerous great grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three sisters. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 6, 2016 at 11:00 AM at Brooks Lyon Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in the Grace Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Brooks Lyon Funeral Home.
