H. Richard "Rich" Gano

April 27, 1942 — October 21, 2023

H. Richard "Rich" Gano of Halifax passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, October 21, 2023.  Born in Martinsburg, West Virginia on April 27, 1942, he was the son of the late Mary Elizabeth "Midge" Barrett.  He is survived by his wife, Kathy Martin Gano.

Rich was a proud veteran of the United States Navy & United States Air Force.  While serving he was an electrician in the navy.  He later worked as a general foreman with Mack Trucks, Inc in Hagerstown, MD. Rich then worked as an Electrician with Dominion Energy at the Mt. Storm and Clover Power Stations, retiring in 2010.  He was a member of Kerns Masonic Lodge in Crystal Hill.  His family was very special to him, especially his grandkids, who knew him as Pop. He enjoyed travelling, the outdoors, eating crab legs with his grandkids, and had a true passion for golf and teaching others the game.

He is survived by his wife, Kathy; children, Rhonda Golden (Kyle Triggs), Heather Butts (Robert), Carey Gano, Dana Young (Shane), and Bryan Gano, grandchildren, Lillie Butts, Jenna Butts, Kalab Robinson, Kyler Young, Dayne Young, Hunter Young, Dylan Gano, Mason Gano, Jacob Gano and Jaxon Gano; sister, Norma Buzzard (Vince); numerous nieces & nephews; special friends, Brian Kesecker and Ricki Nichols; and a devoted neighbor, Ida Conner.  He was preceded in death by his mother and a brother, Ray Gano.

A Celebration of Rich's life will be held Saturday, October 28, 2023 from 1-3 pm in the Brooks Lyon Funeral Home Chapel.  The family would like to thank the nursing staff at First Care Hospice and Halifax Dialysis Center for the attention and care they provided to Rich.
