Hallie Sue Weatherford Davis

Mrs. Hallie Sue Weatherford Davis, age 90, of 2243 Cedar Grove Rd., Alton died Wednesday, September 9, 2009. She was born in Halifax County, VA on February 7, 1919 to the late Mary Gravitt and Raleigh Weatherford. She was married to the late Bryant Davis. She was a retired sewing machine operator at Tultex. She was a member of Cedar Grove United Methodist Church where she was a member of the U.M.W. and the choir. Mrs. Davis is survived by a daughter, Nellie Barksdale and husband, Owen of Alton; sons, Richard C. Cole and wife, Barbara of Boones Mill and Lloyd H. Cole and wife, Paula of Danville; a sister, Rodger Hood of Collinsville, IL; 10 Grandchildren and a number of Great Grandchildren and Great-Great Grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband,she was preceded in death by a grandson, Reginald Shotwell; a granddaughter, Ann Charles Cole; and brothers, Dudley and Harry Weatherford. A memorial service for Mrs. Davis will be held on Monday, September 14, 2009 at 3:00 PM at Cedar Grove U.M.C. with Rev. John Flood officiating. The family will receive friends at the home of Nellie & Owen Barksdale, 2243 Cedar Grove Rd., Alton.
