Harry Howard "Snookie" Snead

Buffalo Junction, VA Harry Howard Snead, Jr. “Snookie”, widower of Carolyn Cumbia Snead, passed away on Thursday, January 19, 2017 at the age of 79.He was born on January 7, 1938 in South Boston, VA to the late Emily Virginia Bomar and Harry Howard Snead, Sr.Mr. Snead was a retired tobacco buyer for Universal Leaf Tobacco Company and was the owner/operator of Snead Strawberry Farm for many years. Cherishing the memories of “Snookie” Snead are his children Sandra Snead McMillan and her husband, Matthew, of Fredricksburg and Harry H. “Trey” Snead, III and his wife, Shelley, of Buffalo Junction.Also surviving are grandchildren, Harrison Watson Snead, Caroline Gail Snead, Darren Jameson McMillan and Connor Davidson McMillan; sisters, Nancy Snead Brady of Clarksville and Bobbie Snead Adams of Red Oak; and his special friend, Anne H. Gordon. “Snookie” was preceded in death by his brother, Edward Parker Snead; and his sisters, Mary Ann Reaves, Jean Snead Thompson, and Dot Snead Holt. Funeral services for Mr. Snead will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, January 22, 2017 at Clarksville Baptist Church with burial to follow at Clover Cemetery.The Reverend Dr. Greg Randall will be officiating.The family of Mr. Snead will receive friends on Saturday, January 21, 2017 from 6 pm – 8 pm at Watkins Cooper Lyon Funeral Home, 703 Virginia Ave., Clarksville, VA.
