Hattie Gordon Hackney

HALIFAX Mrs. Hattie Gordon Hackney of Halifax, VA passed away on Thursday, January 23, 2020 at the age of 80. Born in Halifax County on January 29, 1939 she was the daughter of the late Eugene Clarence Gordon and the late Marjorie Wimberly Gordon. She was first married to the late Mitchell Uriel Seamons.Following Mitchell’s death she married Ollie Hackney, who also preceded her in death. Hattie worked for many years at Burlington Industries and later was employed in the Halifax County Middle School cafeteria.Mrs. Hackney was a member of Hitesburg Baptist Church. Surviving are her daughters, Iris Seamons and Ilor Bailey (Wendell) both of South Boston, VA;six grandchildren, Jesse Seamons, Caitlyn Wilkerson (Frankie), Nicole Whitlow, Preston Seamons, Jasper Poole, and Cheryl Hackney; six great-grandchildren, Kaysen Whitlow, Addalyn Wilkerson, Olivia Wilkerson, Elijah Whitlow, Gunner Seamons, and Quin Crosby; one sister, Vera Vicks; and two brothers, Ernest Gordon and Wayne Gordon. In addition to her parents and husbands, she was also preceded in death by a son, Mitchell Gordon Seamons, and a daughter, Irene Renee Seamons. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 PM Sunday, January 26, 2020 at Hitesburg Baptist Church with Reverend Ian Rigney and Reverend Mike Riley officiating.Burial will follow in the Hitesburg Baptist Church Cemetery.The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 PM Saturday at Brooks Lyon Funeral Home and other times at the home.
