Mrs. Hazel Wallace Puryear of 5185 Old Cluster Springs Rd., South Boston died Tuesday, August 24, 2010 at the age of 76. She was born in Halifax Co. on April 2, 1934 to the late Will Wallace and the late Rosa Franklin Wallace and was married to the late J. B. Puryear. Mrs. Puryear was a retired Machine Operator for Presto Products Company. She was a member of Black Walnut Baptist Church. Survivors include three sons, Todd Franklin Puryear & his wife Monica, Timothy Wallace Puryear and Tony Lee Puryear all of South Boston; a sister, Josephine Wallace Evans of Cluster Springs; a brother, Richard Floyd Wallace of Farmville; four grandchildren, Brad Puryear, Ryan Puryear, Drake Puryear, and Frankie Puryear; two great grandchildren, Makenzie Puryear and Dylan Puryear; and a special friend, Shirley Loftis of South Boston. In addition to her husband and parents, She was preceded in death by two brothers, Preston Wallace and Dale Wallace; and five sisters, Sallie "Betty" Womack, Dorothy Lindsey, Katie Henderson, Mabel Smith, and Louise Fisher. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 26, 2010 at 2:00 PM at Black Walnut Baptist Church with Rev. Raymond Wooten and Rev. Greg Thomas officiating. The family will receive friends at Brooks Funeral Home Wednesday night from 7 until 8:30 PM and at other times at the home.
