Mrs. Helen Torrie Gunther, 84, widow of Erwin Gunther, died Tuesday, September 14, 2004 in South Boston. A resident of Berry Hill, she was born in Claskow, Scotland to George and Ellen Kelly Torrie on March 27, 1920. She came to the United States as a teen. Mrs. Gunther is survived by daughter, Florence Helfand of Brentwood, NY; son and daughter-in-law, Lawrence and Lucy Gunther of Clarksville; sisters, Jean Steinhardt of Hicksville, NY; Joan Asselta of Ozone Park, NY; brother, Donald Torrie of Old Brook, NY; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends 7-9 PM Thursday in the chapel at Watkins Cooper Lyon Funeral Home. Father Silvio Kaberia will say a service at 7:30PM.
