Helen Louise Gregory Gooch

Helen Louise Gregory Gooch, 78, widow of Edwin Allen Gooch, died July 5th at home in the care of family. A native of the Skipwith Community, she was the daughter of Carl Thomasson and Louise Gillispie Gregory. Helen was a member of New Hope Baptist Church. She married Edwin of Boydton, VA. As a Navy family they lived all over and settled in Norfolk in the 60's. Helen was an active member of Norview Baptist Church until she moved to Powhatan in mid 2007 to be with Thomas and his wife Sharon. The family will receive friends Thursday, July 10th from 10:00 to 11:00 am at Watkins Cooper Lyon Funeral Home in Clarksville. Graveside services will be 1PM Thursday, July 10th at New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery with Reverend Cindy Stratton officiating. Mrs. Gooch is survived by a daughter, Tonia L. Gooch of Colorado; sons, Thomas Gooch and wife Sharon of Powhatan and Allen Gooch and wife Faye of Chesterfield. She is also survived by her sister, Dorothy Morrison of Chesterfield; grandsons Edwin "Al" Gooch Danielle and Bryan Gooch Mandy and 5 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Elizabeth Ann Gooch, a brother, Carl "Sonny" Gregory, and longtime companion Heath Perry. The family will gather for a Remembrance at New Hope following the graveside service. Please consider contributions to your favorite charity.
