CLOVER Helen Roller Medley, 93, of Clover, VA passed away peacefully March 8, 2018 in Lynchburg, Va with family by her side.She was born on October 8, 1924 to the late Joseph B. and Vivian Lacks Roller.She was predeceased in death by her husband of 57 years, Chester D. Medley.Helen was also predeceased by two brothers, Walter Roller and Chester Roller and a fantastic brother-in-law who looked after her for many, many years, James “Snapper” Medley.She is survived by two sons and their wives, David R. Medley (Ruth) of Richmond, VA, and Edwin L. Medley (Rae) of Forest, VA.In addition, she is survived by her granddaughter, Michelle Medley of Richmond, VA; step grandchildren, Carl Hudson (Karen), Chuck Hudson (Alana); and four great grandchildren, Mason Hudson, Madison Hudson, Emma Hudson and Cayden Hudson.Left to cherish her memory is a wonderful friend, caregiver and sister-in-law, Gayle Medley; brother-in-law, Muriel Medley; nieces, Staci Spell, Karen Wood of Richmond, VA, Becky Heath, Linda Ann Conner; nephew, Bobby Roller of Commerce, GA; and many extended family and friends. Helen was somewhat of a free spirit that touched many lives in her 93 years and will be sorely missed by all who knew her. She was a member of Rodgers Chapel Baptist Church, South Boston Museum of Fine Arts, NRA, Sierra Club, Ocean Conservancy, and many other environmental organizations. She was very much concerned about the future of our planet Earth. Helen worked for Burlington Industries in Drakes Branch, VA, Leggett Department Store in South Boston, VA and Star Warehouses 1 and 2 in South Boston, VA. The family would like to thank her wonderful and compassionate caregivers, Skip Holt, Courtney Francis, Valerie Musgrove and Janice Privette who made her feel like she was a part of their family in the home. In lieu of flowers, the family request that you make a memorial contribution to one of the following charities: Rodgers Chapel Baptist Church, Mt. Laurel Methodist Church, Mt. Laurel Ruritan Club or your favorite charity. Helen wished to be cremated and her wishes will be followed.There will be a celebration of Helen’s life at Rodgers Chapel Baptist Church, Clover, VA on Saturday, March 17, 2018 at 12:00 PM with a reception to follow in the Church Fellowship Hall.
