Helen Price Poole

Mrs. Helen Price Poole of 9535 Hwy. 96 N., Oxford, NC died Thursday, October 10, 2013 at the age of 80. She was born in Granville Co., NC on October 22, 1932 to Etta Day Price and the late William Ernest Price and was married to Nathan R. Poole. Mrs. Poole was a retired school bus/car driver for Halifax Co. Public Schools and was a member of Florence Ave. Baptist Church. She was a former Miss Granville County and was a basketball team captain at Berea High School. Survivors include her husband, Nathan R. Poole of Oxford, NC; her mother, Etta Day Price of Oxford, NC; two daughters, Judy P. Glasscock and Mary Helen Price both of Virgilina, VA; three sons, Ronald Poole and wife, Cynthia, Barry Poole, and Jerry Poole and wife, Jennifer all of Virgilina, VA; six sisters, Mattie Lou Hancock of Oxford, NC, Annette Eddings of Oxford, NC, Charlotte Dickerson of Oxford, NC, Wilma Elliott of Smithfield, NC, Ernestine Chambers of Timberlake, NC and Cathy Taylor of Rougemont, NC; 15 grandchildren; and 16 great grandchildren She was preceded in death by her father, daughter, Debra Lou Poole, sons, William Charles "Chuck" Poole and Elbert Jasper Poole, brothers, Bernard Price and Elbert Price, and sister, Brenda Self. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, October 13, 2013 at 3:00 PM at Florence Ave. Baptist Church with Rev. Norman Talley officiating. Burial will follow in Virgilina Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Florence Ave. Baptist Church on Saturday, October 12, 2013 from 6:30 PM until 8:30 PM and at other times at the home.
