Boydton, VA – Helen Petty Wootton, wife of the late Charles William Wootton, Sr., left for her heavenly home on Tuesday, February 22, 2022, at the age of 83. She was born in Botetourt County on April 17, 1938, to the late Frank and Louise Rycroft Petty. Helen, one of the first graduating class at the South Hill School of Cosmetology, was a hairdresser and also worked at Lake Apparel. She was an active member in the Boydton Community where she served on the Rescue Squad and volunteered annually at Boydton Day. Helen was a member of Boydton Baptist Church. Survivors of Helen Petty Wootton are her sons, Charles “C.W.” William Wootton, Jr. of Boydton and Frank Clayton Wootton (Wendy) of Clarksville; grandchildren, Clayton Wootton, Aimee Wootton, Emily Jackson and Kayla Wootton; 9 great grandchildren; a brother, Billy Petty of Buchanan and sisters, Anita Thompson of Gordonsville, Linda Alexander of Buchanan, Becky Hannah of Natural Bridge and Jane Harris of Lexington. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM in the chapel at Watkins Cooper Lyon Funeral Home on Friday, February 25, 2022, with burial to follow in Boydton Baptist Cemetery. Elder Scott Hannah will officiate the service. The family will receive friends from 7-9 PM at the funeral home on Thursday evening.
