Henry Wayne Gravitt

Henry Wayne Gravitt passed away on October 10, 2024 at the age of 72.  Born in Halifax County on June 20, 1952, he was the son of the late Thomas Edwin Gravitt and Audrey Jones Gravitt. He was married to the love of his life of 53 years, Gloria Keaton Gravitt.

Wayne was a Marine veteran who also served his community as a fireman with the Midway Volunteer Fire Department for 35 years.  He also owned and operated his own trucking business for 27 years.  He loved his children, grandchildren and his cat, Blue.  Wayne never met a stranger and was loved by all he knew.  His fondest memories was trips to the beach.

In addition to his wife, Gloria, he is survived by his sons, Robert Lane Gravitt (Candice) of Tennessee and Jason Ray Gravitt (Melissa) of Virgilina; grandchildren, Caleb Gravitt, Victoria Gravitt, Vince Gravitt, Jonathan Gravitt and Anna Gravitt; a host of nieces & nephews; a brother, Donnie Gravitt; sister-in-law, Karen Gravitt and his Midway Fire Department family & friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Tamara Marie Gravitt; sister, Sandra Mikkelson; brothers, Allen Von Gravitt and Ira Thomas Gravitt.

A Celebration of Life for Wayne will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, October 26, 2024 at Midway Fire Department, Hwy 58 East, Virgilina, VA. with Chaplain Laurie Fox officiating.
