Henry Morris Hayes, Sr., 68, of Lynchburg, died Saturday, June 12, 2004 in Lynchburg General Hospital. He was the husband of the late Catherine Kent Campbell Hayes. Born April 6, 1936 in South Boston, he was a son of the late Georgie Richard and Lila Mary Glasscock Hayes. He was a self-employed landscaper with an extensive knowledge and love of plants. Henry had an eye and real appreciation for antiques, loved his animals and enjoyed his many friends. In addition to his wife and parents he was preceded in death by his son, Guy Alexander Dirom Hayes. Surviving are his son, Henry Morris Hayes, Jr. and wife Patricia of Greensboro, NC; his daughter, Frances Olivia Hayes and fiance Michael Wayne Simpson of Charles Town, W.Va; a brother, Clinton Allen Hayes of Rockville and four grandchildren, Morgan Elizabeth Hayes, Eric Alexander Hayes, Julia Paige Hayes and Chandler Brock Covington. A Celebration of Henry's life will be held Thursday 11 AM at Diuguid-Wiggington Chapel with the Reverend William P. Parrish officiating. Burial will follow in Gravel Hill Cemetery in Buffalo Junction at 3 PM. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time.
