Henry “Harold” Newcomb went home to be with the Lord on Friday, August 20, 2021.He was born and lived his entire life in Halifax County.He was the son of the late Henry Newcomb and the late Evelyn Comer Newcomb.He was a faithful member of Grace Baptist Church in Virgilina, VA, where he had served as a deacon, on the pastor search committee, building and grounds, and most recently the audio visual team.He was a true American and served his country in the National Guard for six years before continuing his civilian career.Harold worked as a supervisor at Daystrom and Burlington, before retiring as the Assistant Supervisor of Transportation from Halifax County Public Schools.In his retirement, he enjoyed time with family, especially his grandchildren and camping. Henry Harold Newcomb is survived by his wife, Pam, of 42 years, a daughter, Kristie Morris (Keith), and a son, Matthew Newcomb (Christie).In addition to his wife and children, he is survived by his grandchildren: Kayleigh Morris, Kendra Morris, Laci Newcomb, Kolby Morris, Keegan Morris, and Will Newcomb; one sister, Brenda Newcomb Pulliam; one brother, Gary Newcomb; his mother-in-law, Ann L. Crane; nieces, nephews, and many friends. In addition to his parents, Harold was preceded in death by his father-in-law, James G. Crane. Funeral services will be held at 2 P.M. on Wednesday, August 25, 2021,at Grace Baptist Church, Virgilina, Virginia with Reverend Jack Stewart and Reverend David Cline officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. There will be a time of visitation prior to the service beginning at 1 P.M. Those wishing to give memorials are asked to do so to a charity of your choice.
